6 POPULAR UTV/ATV TRAILS NEAR PARK CITY
Park City, Utah, is an excellent outdoor adventure destination known for its scenic views of surrounding mountains and opportunities for unforgettable outdoor experiences. If you’re looking for an excellent place to call home-base while you explore nearby, accessible nature, Park City is a great city to land. One of the more popular forms of outdoor adventure (besides skiing in the winter) is UTV riding. Uinta Recreation is a well-known local UTV rental location if you don’t already have your own vehicle. With a UTV, you can access all kinds of scenic areas you wouldn’t otherwise be able to. There are plenty of UTV trails around the area, whether you’re a beginner or experienced with the sport. Here’s a brief overview of some of the options for trails near Park City!
1. Guardsman Pass
The Guardsman Pass Scenic Backway is a drivable or hikeable mountain pass known primarily for its autumnal beauty during the fall months. The pass is closed during the winter months, however, as the road is not plowed. During the open seasons, you can access the road by going through Deer Valley and up into the mountains. The route connects Park City to Midway and Big Cottonwood Canyon, with a span of 24.2 miles. Take your UTV and camping gear for an overnight trip or for a day trip with beautiful sights from a high altitude.
2. Bonanza Flat
The Bonanza Flat conservation area is 1534 acres of undeveloped backcountry perfect for hiking, whether you want a casual stroll or a more intense adventure. Dogs are allowed, so don’t be worried about bringing your furry friend with you! There are plenty of opportunities for UTV riding as well.
3. Uinta National Forest Trails
The Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest is a wonderful choice for a shadier, more compact circuit of trails, perfect for summertime excursions. There are multiple trails to choose from in the forest, like the popular Lake Blanche Trail in the Twin Peaks area or Gloria Falls for views of unique, natural waterfall formations. Some of the trails in the Uinta National Forest are a little more treacherous, as avalanches might occur during the winter months; be careful which routes you decide to take!
4. Mid Mountain Trail
Also known as the Mid Mountain Twist, the Mid Mountain trail is a stretch of 26 miles, traversing Park City’s ski areas and peaking at almost 8000 feet. It is overall considered a challenging route, however, with the right gear and a UTV to ride, you’ll be prepared.
5. Empire Pass
Empire Pass is nearer to Deer Valley; it’s a beautiful, mountainous area, most popular during the winter due to its’ many ski slopes and proximity to the Deer Valley Resort. There are luxury accommodations as close to Empire Pass’s trails as you can get. Hit the slopes, traverse the UTV friendly trails, or hike through bucolic alpine scenery, then relax in a top-rated luxury resort at the end of the day.
6. Mirror Lake Highway
Mirror Lake Highway is one of the most popular biking roads in Utah. It follows Route 150 for 42 miles, starting in Kamas, Utah, and ascending as high as 10,000 feet into the Uinta Mountains. Along the route, there are numerous stopping points for camping, picnicking, views of waterfalls, and miles of unforgettable Utah scenery.
